We are taking actions that demonstrate our Christian stewardship in caring for the environment and each other.

We try to embrace the principles of sustainable development through our worship and teaching, the way we manage our church building and churchyard, and in our outreach.

In June 2024 we were delighted to achieve the Eco Church Silver Award.

Towards Net Zero

We are playing our part in responding to the climate crisis through practical actions to become a net zero carbon church.

In 2016 we installed a 4kw solar panel array on the church roof.

In 2024 we replaced our oil-fired church heating system with electric halo radiant chandelier heaters with LED lighting powered by 100% green energy.

A wildlife haven

We manage our ancient churchyard as a tranquil space for the community to enjoy and as a haven for wildlife.

We maintain a network of grass paths allowing wildflowers and grasses to thrive across the churchyard through the spring and summer.  We cut back the long sward using scything team in August.

Giving back

We use no of harmful chemicals and avoid waste leaving the churchyard with an active 8-bin composting system.

Our three beehives produce delicious Marshfield honey.

All donations given for bags of compost and jars of honey go to the Ripple Effect charity, supporting community-based sustainable agriculture projects in Africa.

Sustainable floristry

We have created a cutting flower patch in the churchyard and our team of flower arrangers use this and other locally sourced, seasonal flowers and foliage in displays.

Sustainable floristry means no use of imported flowers and materials like oasis.

Get involved

We are keen to share our story and welcome enquiries about our eco church journey.

We also welcome people to join our team of volunteers who manage the church yard, including the flower borders, our Remembrance Garden and the meadow areas.
